Events and Resources
Storytime
For Kids 4 Years and Younger
Beginning September 20th, Storytime will return to Champion Public Library from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Children and their parents or caretakers, will be read a story and participate in activities with music and movement. This event happens on Fridays until May 2nd, 2024.
Ready Jet Go
With OETA & PBS Kids
Join the Champion Public Library and OETA for a special family and community learning event series! This series will feature four engaging programs related to the PBS KIDS TV series Ready Jet Go™. These events will be on Thursdays at 5:30 PM on September 19th, September 26th, October 10th, and October 17th. The library will provide meals for each program. Each program will last about 2 hours. Families are encouraged to sign up.
Coding Club
For Ages 12 and Up
Ready to code your future? Join the Champion Public Library for our first-ever coding club with the Southern Oklahoma Library System’s (SOLS) newest library resource: Fiero Code! Starting on September 23rd, students will have the opportunity to use Fiero Code, a self-guided online software program that teaches coding through hundreds of tutorials and dozens of real-world projects. The coding clubs will take place on Mondays at 5:30 PM until October 28th. Pre-registration is required, call to sign up.
Paper Roller Coaster Program
For Ages 12 - 17
Get ready to experience the excitement of building your very own roller coaster! Be a part of the action at Champion Public Library's workshop on Tuesday, September 24th at 5:30 PM. Teens will learn how roller coasters work and then put their skills to the test by creating a unique paper roller coaster within a time limit. Unleash your creativity and reserve your spot now! It's perfect for teams or individuals!
Teen Anime & Manga Book Club
For Ages 13 - 17
Attention all teens and manga lovers! Champion Public Library’s Teen Anime & Manga Book Club is coming up on Thursday, September 26th at 5:30 PM. We're diving into the slice-of-life world of “Skip and Loafer, Vol. 1” by Misaki Takamatsu. After the discussion, teens will get a chance to play a round of Anime Character Bingo. Call to sign up.
3D Printing Class
For Ages 8 and Up
3D print your own jack-o-lantern at Champion Public Library! Join us on Tuesday, October 1st from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM for a spooky 3D printing class with a Halloween twist designed for children. Guests ages 8 and up will gain insight into the fundamentals of 3D printing, and practical applications. Plus, attendees will get to witness our 3D printers in action, and even select a 3D object to print. We encourage everyone to sign up in advance for this class.
Book Club
For Ages 18 and Up
Join others at the Champion Public Library for a monthly book club on Thursday, October 3rd at 5:30 PM. Conversation, fellowship, and refreshments will be centered on popular book titles for adults to discuss. This month's book selection is "Dry" by Neal Shusterman and Jarrod Shusterman.
Library Passport
For Ages 8 - 13
Is your child ready to read on their own but is unsure where to start? Start your journey with Champion Public Library’s Passport Program for a guided and incentivized reading adventure. Children are welcome to sign up and read a variety of popular series. Library Passport booklets can be obtained at the library from library staff. Once a child returns a read book, they will be asked a trivia question over the book and receive a stamp on their passport. For each page of the passport a child completes they will receive a small prize and a certificate. A large prize will be given once they complete 5 or more pages.
