In July 1962, a Mi’kmaq family from Nova Scotia arrives in Maine to pick blueberries for the summer. Four-year-old Ruthie vanishes, last seen by her brother Joe at a berry field. Joe remains haunted by her disappearance for years. In another part of Maine, an affluent girl named Norma grows up feeling isolated from her emotionally distant father and overprotective mother. Troubled by recurring dreams that feel like memories, Norma becomes determined to uncover a family secret her parents are hiding.
