Join others at the Love County Library for their book club at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 24th. Conversation, fellowship, and refreshments will be centered on popular book titles for adults to discuss. This month’s book, “The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah will be discussed.
Ernt Allbright, a former POW, returns from the Vietnam War changed and volatile. After losing another job, he impulsively decides to move his family to remote Alaska, hoping for a fresh start. Thirteen-year-old Leni, caught in her parents’ tumultuous relationship, hopes for a better future in this new land. Her mother, Cora, follows Ernt anywhere. Initially, Alaska offers a supportive community and hope, but as winter approaches, Ernt’s mental state deteriorates, and the family begins to fracture. Cut off from help, Leni and Cora must confront the reality that they are truly on their own.
