Book Club – Johnston County Library

December 20, 2024

Engage in a book discussion with the Johnston County Library at 6:30 PM, Thursday, January 2nd. Conversation, fellowship, and refreshments will be centered on popular book titles for adults to discuss. Participants will share views on “The Long and Faraway Gone” by Lou Berney.

Lou Berney’s “The Long and Faraway Gone” is a gripping crime story that delves into memory and the lasting impact of violence on survivors. Set against the backdrop of two unsolved tragedies in Oklahoma City in 1986—a movie-theater robbery that left six dead and a teenage girl’s disappearance—the narrative unfolds 25 years later as survivors grapple with their haunted pasts.

Private investigator Wyatt returns to confront the mystery of his friends’ deaths, while Julianna seeks answers about her sister Genevieve’s vanishing when a suspect reappears. As their paths intertwine, their obsessive quests unearth dark secrets and challenge them to confront their memories. Will their pursuit of truth bring healing or destruction?
