In “Weyward”, Kate flees to Weyward Cottage, inherited from a great aunt she barely remembers, escaping an abusive partner. As she settles in, she suspects her aunt harbored a secret tied to the witch-hunts of the 17th century. In 1619, Altha awaits trial for a murder she didn’t commit. Trained in a natural form of magic by her mother, she knows she must harness her knowledge to fight for her freedom against the witchcraft accusations. In 1942, Violet feels trapped in her family’s crumbling estate, yearning for the education denied to her as a girl. She clings to memories of her deceased mother and the word “wayward” etched into her bedroom floor. Emilia Hart’s “Weyward” intricately weaves the stories of these three remarkable women across centuries, exploring themes of resilience and the transformative power of nature.
