April 9, 2025

Ready to embrace a healthier you? Beginning April 15th, join us for a class “Matter of Balance” for adults at Atoka County Library. This 4-week course will be from 2:00 – 3:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, until May 8th with Melinda Scott with Big 5 Community Action. All equipment is provided but wearing comfortable athletic clothes and shoes is recommended. Attendees are encouraged to call ahead and sign up.

This exercise class is designed to empower seniors to enhance their strength, balance, and flexibility. The movements taught will concentrate on specific exercises to boost strength, stability, and power around the ankle, knee, and hip joints, while enhancing your reaction time. All exercises can be performed with chairs or standing with light weights, exercise bands, and clothes pins to help maintain strength in large and small groups of muscles.

Atoka County Library is offering this program as part of a health literacy grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL). The program is funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
