Join others at the Champion Public Library for a monthly book club on Thursday, August 7th at 5:30 PM. Conversation, fellowship, and refreshments will be centered on popular book titles for adults to discuss. This month’s book selection is “The Women” by Kristin Hannah.
Women can be heroes. This realization hits twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath as she imagines a different future for herself in the changing world of 1965. When her brother is deployed to Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps, facing the overwhelming chaos of war. Each day is a gamble, as she navigates deep friendships and the pain of loss. However, the true challenge comes when Frankie and her fellow veterans return home to a divided America, met with anger and a desire to forget Vietnam.
Participants are encouraged to check out the book by visiting the Champion Public Library at 601 Railway Express in Ardmore or call (580) 223-3164. The Champion Public Library is a branch of the Southern Oklahoma Library System.
