Join Parker Memorial Library as we kick off our Sequoyah book club for children and teens. The library will feature a kick-off party on Wednesday, September 25th at 4:00 PM for Middle Schoolers.
These kickoff parties will give readers a chance to look at the books on this year’s list and watch book talks with Oklahoma librarians reviewing each title. Library staff will also go over how to track books read on the Reader Zone app. Snacks will be provided. Afterward, titles will be available for checkout.
A team of children’s librarians from the Oklahoma Library Association chose 15 books each year for the Sequoyah master list. Children are then encouraged to read at least three of the selected books in order to vote on the year’s winner. Voting takes place in March. The library will host follow-up Sequoyah Book Club events to provide students a chance to discuss the titles they have read and to vote on their favorite.
