Strength and Balance Program – Champion Public Library

Ready to groove and improve your physical health? Beginning May 21st, Champion Public Library will be hosting a class on Strength and Balance for Seniors at the HFV Wilson Community Center, 625 E Main St. in Ardmore. This 8-session course will be instructed by Susan Cowlbeck from 2:00 – 3:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays, until June 13th. All exercises will be done standing or in a chair, no floorwork required. Wearing comfortable athletic clothes and shoes is recommended. Participants are encouraged to register early by calling Champion Public Library at (580) 223-3164 or call the HFV Wilson Community Center at (580) 223-0136.

This exercise class is intended to help seniors increase strength and balance. The movements taught will focus on specific exercises to improve strength, stability, and power around the ankle, knee, and hip joints, while improving your reaction time. All exercises can be done with chairs or standing with exercise bands and clothes pins to help maintain strength in large and small groups of muscles.

Champion Public Library is offering this program as part of a health literacy grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL). The program is funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
