Join others at the Johnston County Library for a monthly book club at 6:30 PM on Thursday, August 6th. Conversation, fellowship, and refreshments will be centered on popular book titles for adults to discuss. This month’s book, “The Book Club for Troublesome Women” by Marie Bostwick, will be discussed. Refreshments will be provided by The Johnston County Friends of the Library.
In the 1960s, Margaret Ryan seems to have a perfect life: a husband, three kids, and a home in an exclusive Virginia suburb. But something is missing. When the enigmatic Charlotte moves in, Margaret starts a book club with her and two neighbors. As they read ‘The Feminine Mystique’ and share their true feelings, the women realize they all yearn for more than the idealized roles they’ve been given. Calling themselves the Bettys, their new friendship and book club give them the support and courage to face a year that will change their lives.
