The Johnston County Library is proud to announce an upcoming Internet Safety Class designed to empower adults with the knowledge and resources needed to protect their families in the digital age. The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, July 23rd at the library.
The class will feature Police Chief Shannon Smith and Sgt. Ashley Hanks, both members of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. With years of experience investigating online threats, Chief Smith and Sgt. Hanks will provide critical insights into online safety, the risks associated with social media, cyberbullying, and the dangers posed by online predators.
Attendees will learn how criminals use the internet to target children and families, as well as practical strategies parents and caregivers can use to help keep young people safe online. The presentation will also offer guidance on protecting personal information and fostering responsible digital behavior among children and teens.
This informative program is open to all adults ages 18 and up. Participants will leave with valuable tools and resources for recognizing online dangers and creating a safer online environment at home.
The Summer Reading Program is also supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
