Peer-Led Art Therapy Class – Johnston County Library

December 15, 2025

Join us at the Johnston County Library at 6:30 PM on Thursday, December 18th for a peer-led art therapy class led by Christina Tabor. While this class began as a space for cancer warriors and survivors, it is open to anyone walking through a difficult season of life. Whether you are coping with illness, loss, stress, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you are welcome here. This art therapy class will offer you a chance to step away from the noise, relax your brain, and reconnect with yourself and others. No prior art experience is needed. Just a willingness to show up and take time for yourself. This activity is designed for ages 18 and up. Sign up now to secure your spot!

When Christina Tabor was diagnosed with breast cancer on August 14, 2023, her life was forever changed. Navigating the emotions of a cancer diagnosis is extremely overwhelming and difficult. Tabor struggled for many months with isolation and loneliness, before she found an outlet for those feelings. Tabor’s turning point came when she joined UTSW Surviving to Thriving Through Art Cancer Workshop. This cancer community art group helped Tabor find a path to healing – a path where creativity became a companion when words fell short.

Johnston County Library is offering this program as part of a health literacy grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL). The program is funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
