Join others at the Champion Public Library for a monthly book club on Thursday, June 2nd at 5:30 PM. Conversation, fellowship, and refreshments will be centered on popular book titles for adults to discuss. This month’s book selection is “We the Women: The Hidden Heroes Who Shaped America” by Norah O’Donnell to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday.
Award-winning journalist Norah O’Donnell, known for highlighting untold stories of women, now turns her focus to the American heroines who shaped history. In “We the Women,” O’Donnell explores U.S. history from women’s perspectives, spotlighting trailblazers who fought for the rights promised in the Declaration of Independence but long denied to women. Through thorough research and rare interviews, she profiles figures like Mary Katherine Goddard, the Forten family women, and early female service members, bringing their overlooked contributions to light and reshaping our understanding of America’s past.
This project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
