Join Champion Public Library for an in-person Storytime at Ardmore Regional Park on Thursday, May 8th from 10:00 to 11:30 AM and 1:00 to 2:30 PM. This Storytime will feature Southern Oklahoma Library System’s (SOLS) StoryWalk® installation presenting the book “Kindness Rocks” by Sonica Ellis. This event will include a craft where children of all ages can create their own kindness rocks. The SOLS StoryWalk® Storytime is free and open to the public.
In “Kindness Rocks”, Little Clara loves painting cheerful messages on rocks and leaving them for others to find. Her rocks carry words of hope, joy, and love. One day, a sad and tired turtle stumbles upon Clara’s colorful rocks outside her house. The kind messages lift the turtle’s spirits and bring a big smile to his face. Feeling inspired, he hurries home to share these messages with his friends.
This isn’t just a story about rocks—it’s about the way kindness can spread like ripples in a pond. With simple words and touching moments, this book reminds children (and grown-ups too!) that even the smallest gestures can turn someone’s day around.
The Summer Reading Program is also supported in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the Oklahoma Department of Libraries.
The StoryWalk® project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Kellogg-Hubbard Library. StoryWalk® is a registered service mark owned by Ms. Ferguson.
