Ready to groove and improve your physical health this new year? Beginning Monday, January 5th, a class on Strength and Balance for Seniors will be held at Love County Library. This class will be instructed by Susan Cowlbeck, YMCA Fitness Instructor, at 2:00 PM on Mondays and Wednesdays, January 5th – January 28th. All exercises will be done standing or in a chair, no floorwork required. All equipment is provided but wearing comfortable athletic clothes and shoes is recommended. Signing up is encouraged.
This exercise class is intended to help seniors increase strength and balance. The movements taught will focus on specific exercises to improve strength, stability, and power around the ankle, knee, and hip joints, while improving your reaction time. All exercises can be done with chairs or standing with light weights, exercise bands and clothes pins to help maintain strength in large and small groups of muscles.
Love County Library is offering this program as part of a health literacy grant from the Oklahoma Department of Libraries (ODL). The program is funded in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
