Things are popping at Johnston County Library! Join us at 6:00 PM on Thursday, January 15th for an engaging program on the history of popcorn led by Amanda Lewis with the OSU Extension Office. In this presentation, Lewis will trace back to the origins of popcorn from ancient indigenous cultures of the Americas to its place as a modern snack staple. Attendees for all ages will explore how corn suitable for popping was cultivated thousands of years ago, how it later became popular at fairs, movie theaters, and homes across the United States. Plus, learn about how advances in agriculture and food science helped shape today’s popcorn varieties, connecting history, culture, and nutrition in a fun and accessible way. Sign up now to secure your spot!
