Join Champion Public Library for a special “Age Well” online lecture at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 4th on Sleep & Healthy Aging — How Rest Evolves Over the Lifespan. Sleep changes naturally as we age, but healthy rest remains essential for overall well-being. Led by Dr. Zsófia Zavecz, neuroscientist and sleep researcher, this presentation explains how sleep patterns commonly evolve in later adulthood and how healthy sleep habits can help protect against cognitive decline. This previously offered lecture returns with updated content including general, evidence-informed suggestions for supporting more restful nights and promoting quality of life in older age. This program is free and open to adults, ages 18 and up; however, signing up is encouraged. This Zoom lecture event is sponsored by Road Scholar.
Dr. Zsófia Zavecz is a neuroscientist specializing in memory and sleep. Dr. Zavecz’s research investigates how sleep supports memory and helps protect against cognitive decline, including the context of Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Zavecz earned her Ph.D. in Hungary and held postdoctoral positions at UC Berkeley and the University of Cambridge before becoming an assistant professor at the University of Surrey. Bridging fundamental and applied neuroscience, Dr. Zavecz work aims to translate research findings into practical solutions that enhance cognitive health.
This lecture is part of our “Age Well” series, designed to provide valuable insights, expert guidance, and practical tools for navigating the aging journey with confidence. These programs explore key topics related to aging, from health and wellness to planning for the future, offering meaningful perspectives and resources for older adults and caregivers alike.
