Join Parker Memorial Library for “Booked on a Thursday” Book Club at 5:30 PM on Thursday, May 21st. Conversation, fellowship, and refreshments will be centered on popular book titles for adults to discuss. This month’s book selection is “The Women” by Kristin Hannah.
Women can be heroes. This realization hits twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath as she imagines a different future for herself in the changing world of 1965. When her brother is deployed to Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps, facing the overwhelming chaos of war. Each day is a gamble, as she navigates deep friendships and the pain of loss. However, the true challenge comes when Frankie and her fellow veterans return home to a divided America, met with anger and a desire to forget Vietnam.
Participants are encouraged to check out the book by visiting the Parker Memorial Library at 500 West Broadway in Sulphur. You can also call the library at (580) 634-2315 for more information. The Parker Memorial Library is a branch of the Southern Oklahoma Library System.
