The Wilson Public Library is turning up the excitement this Halloween season with “kaBOOm! Exploding Ghost Bags,” a hands-on chemistry event for young scientists and their families. The event will take place at 1:30 PM on Monday, October 5th, and promises a spirited blend of science and fun just in time for spooky season! With school out that day, it’s the perfect chance to bring the family by the library for an afternoon of spooky science and fun!
Children will have the chance to decorate their own ghost bags before diving into a safe, acid-base experiment that will make their creations go “kaBOOm!” The activity is designed for ages 6 and up (with grown-up helpers for the littlest scientists) and encourages exploration, discovery, and a touch of Halloween magic. Participants will make predictions, build their own reaction packets, and learn about the same chemical reaction that makes cakes rise, only this time, it’s a lot louder!
All materials are provided, and families will leave with instructions to recreate the explosive fun at home. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Attendees are encouraged to dress for mess and prepare for a blast!
