Join Johnston County Library for our Let’s Talk About It book discussion with “This is Where I Leave You” by Jonathan Tropper at 6:30 PM on Thursday, April 16th. Dr. Glenn Melancon will serve as the evening’s scholar as we explore the novel’s themes of family, grief, and relationships. Refreshments will be provided by the Johnston County Friends of the Library. Signing up is encouraged.
Judd Foxman’s father’s death brings his estranged family together for the first time in years, except for Judd’s wife, Jen, whose affair has just become public. Grieving both his father and his failed marriage, Judd joins his dysfunctional family to sit shiva for seven chaotic days, where old resentments and secrets surface. Then Jen drops a bombshell: she’s pregnant.
Serving as scholar for the evening is Dr. Glenn Melancon who completed his Ph.D. in European History from Louisiana State University. He is currently a professor at Southeastern State University in Durant. Dr. Melancon is the author of Britain’s China Policy and the Opium Crisis: Balancing Drugs, Violence and National Honor, 1833-1840. He has served as a Cubmaster for a local Boy Scout troop and is a volunteer at St. Mary’s Church.
